Activated carbon is charcoal that has been treated with oxygen to open millions of tiny pores between carbon atoms. Carbon filtering is a method that uses a bed of activated carbon to remove contaminates and impurities using chemical absorption. Effectively collects dust and smoke for any other tiny harmful contaminants. Removes peculiar smells. It also traps Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) from the air by capturing gas molecules and removing them efficiently from circulation.

High Efficient Particulate Air (HEPA) are designed to arrest very fine particles effectively. A good HEPA filter will capture 99.97 percent of particles of 0.3 microns. As air is inducted into the device it passes through the HEPA Filter which catches airborne droplets. The UV-C sterilizer lamps are exposed to the entire length of the HEPA Filter and continually emit germicidal irradiation to destroy any airborne pathogens. It is a method used by hospitals to sterilize equipment and a proven method of destroying pathogens. Viruz-X has two UV-C sterilizer lamps positioned on the HEPA filter.

Number of Viruz-X Units required per room

All buildings where people congregate should be assessed for ventilation, according to Professor Mary Louise McLaws, an expert in epidemiology, hospital infection and disease control and a member of the World Health Organisation (WHO) expert panel on COVID 19.

She said “confined spaces need ventilation rates of 3 litres of air per second per person”. The Viruz-X unit has a maximum air volume of 643m3/h. The calculation to assess the ventilation rate with the Viruz-X is as follows:
